M14x r2 resetting bios password

hello all

i recently went and turn on my laptop after which was collecting so much dust but i forgot what my start up password was so my laptop is on lock down/disable atm. i went and took the thing apart and remove the cmos battery to reset the bios left it out for 25-30mins. after putting everything together went and turn on the laptop but the password screen still appears i'm not sure if it reverted to the default but i don't remember there was ever a password on it when i first turn it on so i am stuck as to what to do.

can anyone help with this?

thank you

You will need to call Dell support with verification of ownership to have the password removed.  If the system is in warranty, there is no charge - if it is out of warranty, there is a support call charge (currently $60 in the US).

my warranty is out. is dell support the only method left or could i just call any laptop service and they are able to get the job done? also does taking and putting the cmos battery normally  work, i didn't replace the battery with a new one just used the same one does that make it not work?

thanks
