Monitor crashing

Alienware M17x R4 Screen only going black. Sometimes having sound issues when the screen goes off. Cant use my computer much, game wise, graphic wise. I dont even know... Started happening since I played WoW a couple days ago & the monitor turned black & i could still hear current in game sounds not frozen, so its like I was still playing but just without picture. I couldn't use any of my keyboard, I had to just turn it off from power button. It was then Okay for a couple of days & yesterday it happened once or twice with the exact same sound issues & i reset it again. Today it turns black In game, while logging in, booting into safe-mode.. etc like completely random, no common scenario, but now it freezes the sound and repeats the exact sound as it froze with a BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ or BRRRRRRRRrr kinda sound. I rang the Dell support & he made me system restore to last saved, which was yesterday, I booted it back up & it said was successful, then 30 seconds later, it just turned off. Im on it right now, and its fine. Hopefully so i can finish this post. Sometimes the computer loads up & goes to a black screen saying it wasn't shut down properly (because i turned it off by power) Sometimes it loads up and says it needs to system recovery (even though same symptoms & turned it off the same way) Completely random every time. Doesn't even make sense.

You should try running the diagnostic test on the system. When you boot hit F12 at the BIOS. Then scroll down to the PSA and test and hit enter. Follow on screen instructions from there.

I would also try doing a full uninstall and then reinstall of the graphics driver. If you have trouble doing any of this you can phone tech support back and they would be more the happy to walk you through it.

As said by Morblore, it would be a good idea to run the ePSA to start the diagnosis.

Also, to get the best performance out of your discrete video card press [FN] + [F7] with the AC Adapter connected to your computer, this will disable your integrated video card and ensure that the game will start with your discrete video card.

Updating the video card drivers, to the latest from the manufacturer, is a good practice.
