Need to replace battery on alienware 15 please help.
I have an alienware 15 that is roughly 2 years old, and though i dont know the specifics as to the model (other than its an alienware 15), i can provide the service tag or stuff like that that would be needed to help me on the specifics.
My laptop recently shut down completely on me, and it would only boot up when it was directly plugged in to the power brick. Upon booting up the system up, i get a message that says "permanent battery failure", and when the laptop is on the battery icon says "not charging".
Basically, I updated the BIOS and that didnt help, so I need to replace the battery, but I am not sure which one I need.
Like i said, please let me know if you need any other information, otherwise just letting me know some good batteries that would fit in my alienware 15 would be great, as i would like to get this fixed sooner than later.
Thanks!

You don't want this problem, so I advise you to do the same as I wrote here:

1. Buying a genuine battery from Dell Parts, or ...
2. Buying a Denaq made battery. I know those work on Dells.

As you have found-out the hard-way ... all after-market laptop batteries are not created equal.

I just got off the phone with Dell and they told me they no longer sell the battery (new or refurbished), so i am stuck buying it from another manufacturer.
I just clicked on your link for that denaq site and nothing came up.
Thanks for your help

Well the battery that just died isn't an aftermarket product, it's the OEM battery that came with the laptop.
I just contacted DELL and they told me they don't sell the battery anymore, but he did give me the product ID so I was able to google it and find some.

If the battery is removable it will have a part number on it.
Dell 191YN OR 2F3W1 for example.

You cant say (Alienware 15) however that's like saying optiplex there are hundreds of different generations and models.
There is a DPN and a model number and serial number on the unit.

I had same problem 30 to 40 days after warranty had expired. I had open laptop and discover that I had 2 screw lose on motherboard (probably they have burned battery) Battery is 191YN and I have purchase XTEND - Alienware battery online but due to damage caused when first one burned it can only charge up to 60%. I hope that you are luckier than me. Just make sure that you don't have lose screws before installing new one.
