Please help!! Alienware 17 R4 heating issue, battery performance problem and GTX1070 error code 43

Hi. Last night I played MGSV on my Alienware 17 R4, I

Two nights ago I played MGSV on my Alienware 17 R4 to kill some time, I switched off my laptop before midnight. The following  morning when I switched on my laptop I almost immediately received a blue screen of death (0x00000116) and from then on my 1070 stopped working, in device manager it shows GTX1070 but with code error 43.

It also seems as if my system is running warmer than usual, especially on the right hand fan exhaust (when facing the screen). I'm really concerned because the system was bought in the US and is my first ever Alienware system, but I'm in South Africa and will be traveling to the US only much later in the year.

I saved up a long time for this system and I cannot afford to ship back to the USA if it needs on site repair. Plus for the price I paid I would expect much better reliability from a system I've only used for about two months.

I was initially disappointed with the back-light bleeding on the screeb, but decided I will live with it since I was very happy with the rest of the system. But now with these issues, it's very distressing. I have the 4K screen, 16GB 2667MHz, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, i7 6820HK (I'm not overclocking at yet), GTX1070 and Windows 10 pro.

It seems my battery is also acting up, because usually on at over 90% it would give me an estimate of over 5 hours of battery life on 25% brightness, now it gives me an estimate of 2 hours, even though it's on the Intel GPU since windows deactivated the 1070.

Just to mention I did follow the problem solving steps with the support assist app, and did a scan where everything passed, but obviously because the 1070 is deactivated the scan did not include it, it only tested the Intel GPU. All drivers, software and bios is updated as well.

Please, I'm using the laptop for work purposes as well, I work at a university and do a lot of data analysis, and create e-learning content which involves photo and video editing as well, and the nVidia GPU makes a big difference in performance. I humbly ask if I can be assisted in rectifying this problem.

OK, I just received a solution from the Alienware Support on twitter and it seemed to rectify the GPU, heat and battery issue. And note the problems started when I updated to the newest nVidia drivers through the Geforce Experience app.

Before I tried many solution which did not work (I'm listing these solutions if anyone else runs into a similar problem)

- Completely uninstalled the nVidia drivers with Display Driver Uninstalled for gurur3d and reinstalled the original drivers on the Alienware support site - Did not work

- Updated Intel drivers, updated nVidia drivers, updated all chipset drivers and reinstalled the newest bios - Did not work

So the solution that did work:

1) Unistall nVidia drivers (please note to first unistall the HD Audio driver, PhysX system, Gefore Experience and 3D Vision, leave the Graphics Driver for last)

2) Unistall Intel graphics drivers

3) Install newest bios (obtained from Alienware support) or reinstall bios if you allready have the newest bios (make sure nothing interrups or interferes with this step, make sure you have sufficient battery life if not connected to the mains)

4) Install Intel graphics drivers obtained from Alienware support

5) Install newest nVidia graphic drivers obtained from nVidia's website

Restart with each step, and that should solve the issue.

OK it seems the solution to the problem was only temporary.

Yesterday I was just watching some videos on YouTube when all of a sudden my laptop gave a BSOD with "Video TDR Failure", and after restart my 1070 again showed error code 43 in the device manager.

But now when I try to apply the solution provided it does not work at all. I even restored the factory image on the laptop, with no luck.

What I do not understand when I check the error log it shows that it was the nVidia drivers causing the BSOD, however, the GPU was not even active as I was not doing anything intensive. Another thing that I noticed that's different when I try to apply your solution it seems as if Windows is installing drivers before I can even finish installing the drivers.

How I know this is that before I even start to install the Intel drivers my screen flashes, my screen dpi scaling goes to 100%, so everything is very tiny, and windows prompts me that graphic drivers have been updated and I need to restart. When I go into program files it shows the nVidia drivers.

The Intel drivers also sometimes gets installed before I even try and install myself. And yes, I went to Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced System Settings > Hardware > Device Installation Settings and set it to know. Before the error I also monitored the BSOD I monitored the 1070 activity and temperature with GPU-Z, before the BSOD there was 0 activity and also earlier while playing MGSV the temperatures rarely went above 80 degrees celsius. I have absolutely no idea what else I can do.
