Power Button don't work right....
So I got my first Alienware a year ago exactly.... go figure the moment my warranty goes out...
So I will shut down my system: Alienware 17 R2 (early 2015) with a graphics amplifier connected; though it does this even when it's not.
This is a two part inquiry....
So it shuts down correctly (sometimes, other times it just sits there at a black screen after windows supposedly is done... lights stay on amp stays on.... fans you name it; when it does this I have to kill it by holding the power button...)
Sometimes when I press the power button guess what... no response... that is until I unplug my power jack from my laptop for 5 or so seconds and then plug it back in... then lowe and behold it powers right up.... I am at a loss here and would love to have any help understanding how I might remedy this obnoxious behavior.

Hi,
Update the BIOS version to the latest here.
Disconnect the amplifier from the command center before turning the system off.
Also make sure "hybrid shutdown" is not enable if you have Windows 10.

Umm, I have the latest BIOS, You can't turn off the amp before shutting down windows, I should not have to press the button on the cable connected to my computer when I am simply shutting down my laptop with the intent to use it again... and my windows 10 has hybrid shutdown disabled from the get go. It has this issue on W7, W8, W10.... so not a configuration issue, also why does my monitor get lines through it sometimes? I have to close my laptop lid, then open it back up and the lines are gone.
I think its funny that all these issues happen close to 1 year after purchase, and you guys wanted almost $1,000.00 to extend my warranty... it's almost as if you guys knew my laptop was going to need fixes...
I am beginning to think you guys knowingly shipped my laptop fully knowing you were sending me the...
#1. Wrong power adapter, (Had to warranty it to get the proper power supply that wont turn off when I game, this laptops intended purpose mind you...)
#2. The power supply in my graphics amplifier broke 6 or so months into ownership... another warranty issue( apparently you guys cant just replace the power supply... you wanted to replace the whole thing... and I had to wait 3 months for a replacment... exactly when my warranty expires, I found that suspicious. So I turned down this warranty, I still have not changed it to a new power supply.)
#3. The monitor on the laptop gets lines in it some times when it boots or I wake it from sleep, I simply close the lid and open the lid back up to get the lines to go away, my second monitor hooked directly into my graphics amplifier does not display lines when the laptop does... highly suspicious of a faulty monitor.
#4. The laptop does not shut down properly, it will hang with a black screen indefinitely until I press and hold the power button to shut it down fully sometimes....
#5. The laptop does not turn on successfully some times, I have to unplug the power cable from the laptop, then plug it back in in order for it to respond to the power button. (Yes I have reset the CMOS, just to be sure it was not a BIOS issue.)
So all said for a 2600 dollar rig.... I expected to get a flawless product... clearly its not.... and the workmanship is obviously questionable under the hood.
