Received your system?

Due to the amount of delays AW is having, I thought it would be a good idea to kind of track the build progress of these systems, or at least have a guess.

Please post your order date, system type (just the model), and your shipping date.

Thank you!

Mine says the same thing. N/A and N/A. Did you order through a sales rep? If so, thats likely why. If you purchased online it should have the correct info.

You know what, I canceled my order on Saturday and today i got an email saying my order was shipped and would be here tomorrow. I even got the Fed-Ex tracking number even though i canceled the order. I called the number they gave me and i asked if this order was canceled and they said no, So i will get my laptop tomorrow around 3:00. They never mentioned anything about the boxing phase but i heard it could be any where from 1- 7 days

Kevin,

What was your original order date and can you post your build specs?

Thanks!

Matt---------

PS: From what I've read boxing can take from 1-4 days.

Well, I ordered online, and then I talked to a sales rep (via that free chat) asking what was going on with my order status etc. There was me thinking it was close to shipping :(

Once again that "bill to: n/a" thing has disappeared etc and it still says in production. Considering all the other problems people have had with their orders, I'm losing hope that it'll come on or before my EDD :(

Hey gang, since this thread is getting so long if you post that your ordered finally shipped can you please post your original order & ship date so we can compare without having to look through 21 pages of posts?  Thanks!

I'll find out tomorrow if mine shipped or not, I have a feeling they're going to delay it again since they tend to send me my delay emails Wednesday mornings (original order date 1/13/10).  My request to get my order expedited was denied but they did upgrade my shipping from 5-7 days to next business day.

And yes when I log in my billing & shipping info is N/A.

Also it can take 24-72 hours for shipping info to show up on your tracking number at the shippers website.

I called the order status # and it says it's currently in the build stage then it's testing next, so I'm pretty much guaranteed at LEAST another week of delay, if not more.  Heck I'll probably get my tax return (which I had to mail in this year) before I get my computer.  Sad that the government is faster than Dell, that's really saying something.

My order finally shipped YAY! Funny thing is though the site said it shipped on the 14th, with an updated EDD of 2/17. I got the 2nd business day shipping, so in reality it should be here today. However I went to the Fedex site and they do not have my tracking number in their system yet? Weird indeed!

Edit: Ugh forgot yesterday was a Federal holiday, so that would explain the delivery for tomorrow. Nothing happend at Fedex yesterday.

Good luck Venjax with your system, mine has been "In Production" since I ordered it 1/13/10 and I've been delayed twice already and am 99.99% sure I will get another delay email tomorrow morning (they've sent it out weekly on Wednesday mornings since my original ship date got close).  I had an original ship date of 2/8/10, I think their system automatically gives a 3-4 week estimate ship date instead of a realist ship date.  Our builds are very similar (same processor, same video card, same FX color).  The memory is close, you got 1333Mhz and mine is 1067Mhz.  Keep us updated on your system!

I guess I'll throw myself into the mix.

I've ordered the following machine. We'll see if I have any delays. (Wish me luck). It's already been a week, the machine has been "In Production" since 2/12/10.

The original "Ship Date" says 2/25/10 (12 business days after I've ordered it) with 3-5 days delivery puts it here 3/2/2010 (3 weeks from original order date).

Wish me luck!

They don't give you any discounts or upgrades for delaying your system that many times? What do they tell you when you call? I'm starting to get really scared that I've chosen Dell this time around. This machine is to replace my main computer/gaming rig that has died recently. I can't do anything 'fun' until the new PC arrives. My productivity has been shot too because I don't even want to go in my office to work on web design because the main computer was used as a server computer as well.

I've ordered siding for my house a few days AFTER I've ordered this machine. I have a funny feeling I'll have my siding installed before I get my machine. - Even without any additional delays! They should be able to churn out machines like crazy these days. I worked at a laptop repair facility and we had a 2-3 day MAX turn around time, most computers were shipped the same they we got them. The average solution for a laptop was a motherboard replacement.

Dell really needs to tighten up.

They refused to expedite my order though they did upgrade my shipping from 5-7 days to next business days and don't know if I can get additional discounts since I got some through the EPP program.  My work orders a lot of computers so I contacted my inside sales rep and also called a regular rep.  The regular person couldn't give me any specific reasons as to why my order was delayed but my inside sales rep said it's the processor & video card.  Though some people who ordered after me got theirs already though they may of had different parts.

The sad thing is that Dell hasn't been very forthcoming with information, they either give you wrong information or claim they don't know.  Somebody has to know what's going on.  If they just step forward and say "Hey, the manufacture is delayed in shipping us their video card" (only used that as an example) a lot of people would be more understanding of the situation, keeping us in the dark isn't making them business.  In fact several people have canceled their orders.

I purchased a Dell XPS 420 in July 2008, it's a good machine but I was disappointed in the power supply when I wanted to upgrade to a higher end video card.  I've had no problems with Dell until I went to buy the Alienware.

If I don't get my Alienware from Dell by the time I get my tax return I'm canceling my order and going some place else.

Just for giggles I went through to 're-build' my system and noticed that the 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTS 240 (single/duel) causes a delay in shipping (though that is not in my order) and that they don't even offer the 6GB 1067Mhz memory anymore (which is what I have in my system) and that the ship date would be 3/4/10.
