Window 8.1 Blue Screen. I'm scared :(

Hello,

So I've had my Alienware X51 R2 bought straight from Dell.ca website for almost a month now.

It has been running very well, quiet and cool, until today. I was on Chrome, and I was playing a music playlist on Youtube. When I click on the Youtube logo on the top left hand side, the computer crashed. And it gives me this message.

" :-( A big sad face - Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you.

If you'd like to know more, you can search online later for this error: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (Atikmdag.sys)"

Guys, what's happening with my computer? This is my first window pc....

Thanks

Try these steps:

  • First, re-install the application that caused the BSOD.
  • Update to the latest BIOS A04.
  • You can also do a Clean Boot to check if any of the applications or software are conflicting with the Operating System.
  • Run an ePSA diagnostic to check for hardware errors.
  • Test the computer and if the issue persists, you can try a System Restore using an earlier date before the problem started (option# 3 Restore your PC to an earlier point in time from the article above)

Let me know how it goes.

I download BlueScreenView and here is what I found:

Bug Checking String: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NO_HANDLED

Bug Check Code: 0x1000007e

The instructions are the same. Download the Blue Screen View and post a reply when you have the BSOD error code.

1. Tried to updated BIOS. Apparently, mine is at the latest version

2. Tried Clean Boot.

Now I just got to wait till this issue appear again, if not, then everything should be fine.
