Alienware Aurora R4 Problems

Hey guys,

I have an Alienware Aurora R4 that I purchased from Dell in 2012.  I'm currently having issues with not being able to boot Windows.  Anytime Windows boots, I get a blue screen of death followed by of course an immediate restart.  For troubleshooting I have attempted Advanced Boot Options and tried everything.  From running in Safe Mode to Last Known Good Configuration, if it's an option on there, I've tried it.  My BIOS is set to UEFI and I've tried doing my own tests as well as doing default conditions.

Unfortunately the Alienware did not come with a physical copy of a recovery disk, only the built in copies.  I cannot access the Windows recovery, and the recovery from Advanced Boot Options("Repair your computer") still results in the endless boot cycle.

After running the ePSA, it would seem the fault lies with the hard drive.  I have opened up my rig and reseated the HDD in the same slot, as well as attempted to move it around to other slots, all with the same outcome.

My next step seems to be buying a new HDD and seeing if that works.  But even if I do, won't I still need to install the OS onto the new HDD?  Without an ISO image burner or any install/recovery disks, even if I buy the new HDD it still seems pointless.  Please advise, thank you for your time.

You can get Win-7 (64bit) DVD-ROM from Dell, or Win-10 .ISO from Microsoft.

You can drop an old/spare HDD in there for testing.

Might help to borrow a friend's PC or laptop until yours is working again (to make bootable USB ISOs, etc.).

Edit: Also see this about SSDs (pretty cheap now-days)
