Alienware M17XR3 Display Adapter problem
I have been having problems in all my games with extremely low FPS drops for no reason even on flash games.
I have both the Intel HD Graphics Family and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M display adapters. I recently reformatted them and installed the drivers. the GTX ws able to update later with no problem but the Intel adapter dosnt.
When I restart my resolution drops and when i check my dxdiag the driver disappears and all i am left with is a Unidentified Device in the device manager. When i try to manually update it, i get the following error:
"A service installation section in the INF is invalid"
I believe my low FPS will get resolved once i solve this error. Any thoughts?

Yes i installed the base version without updates which i think is the reason for my problems. It shows in the Device Manager>Display Adapters for now but it removes itself when I update it manually/automatically.

Hi,
Just to confirm, were you not able to install the Intel driver? Do you show the Intel driver in Device Manager under Display Adapters?

To clarify, yes i was able to install the Intel driver. It shows as "Intel HD Graphics Family" in the Device Manager under Display adapters. When i update it, it becomes an unidentified device.

Hi,
Thank you for confirming this. Why are you trying to update the Intel driver? If you use this version, it should work fine. Try reinstalling it again and do not update it, then test the system to confirm if the issue persists.

Ok i installed the one from your link. I used the display adapter uninstaller to remove my Intel and Nvidia adapters and reinstalled. I am still having bouncing between 5-20 FPS.
Im starting to believe it might be a hardware problem or in-game setting problem. Got any more things for me to try?

Hi,
Click here to view a Dell article that explains how to manually set your programs to run with the high performance GPU. When you open the link, click on the Manually Configure Optimus tab for the instructions.

Alright i did what you said but that didn't work also.
If it help solve this, i am currently not using the battery. It stopped charging a while back. I thought it was the charging adapter but it turns out it was the battery itself. Do you think this would cause this issue? it *** to always have it plugged in.

Hi,
I don't think that could have caused the issue but considering everything you have already tried, it could be a hardware problem with the video card.
