Dell Alienware Aurora R4 missing Serial ATA Controller Driver
O/S 7 x64
Have just done a reinstall of windows and have noticed I am now get a error missing when I click on Devices + Printers telling me that I am missing my Serial ATA Controller Driver . In seeing this message I down load a replacement driver and install but I still get the same error message .
So to recap I go to Devices and printer and click on " Install a driver for this device "
Apply this Fix " Searching for driver "
Problem found
" Serial ATA Controller Doesnt have Driver " " Not Fixed "
But I have just installing the driver but it does not seem able to find it , So non of it makes any sense ?
Any thoughts from any one ?

you don't need to buy a new CD. here are the correct Drivers for your System:
Support for Alienware Aurora | Drivers & downloads | Dell US
and here is the SIS Driver:
Silicon Integrated Systems SIL3132, v.1.0.15.6, A02 Driver Details | Dell US

Many thanks guys for your input in searching the internet I did find someone had the same idea going via device manager then update but so far its not changed . In the past few days I think I have done about 3 clean installs without down loading all the updates from M/S .
Plus I know very little about IT so its very hit and miss but from from what what I have been told it would seem that I need to install first the
Silicon Integrated Systems SIL3132, v.1.0.15.6, A02 Driver Details | Dell US
But when I install this file it it comes up as this file is already installed so I am not sure what next . I understand that you install this file first after a clean install which is what I have done .So not sure if I need to buy a new CD or if the files I need are here on this site ?
My computer is a Aurora A4 and from what I have been told you will not find the file online doing a a standard Update driver search ? It would seem to be on Aurora A4 recovery CD however I have tried installing my CD and it still does not seem to work .So not sure what next ? Just had a thought my Hard Drive is a Samsung HD240UI ATA Device from what I can see the driver for this is way out of date 21/06/2006 I wonder if its worth updating this . ?

Is there a specific issue you're trying to resolve? Or are you perhaps obsessive that device printers reveals a type of non-recognition that SIL3132 SATA isn't installed when in fact it is
it's been pointed out already by another member here that you have an Aurora R1. There is a revision to Aurora known as R4, with a different motherboard and different later generation Intel CPU, but there is no A4, where (A4) would be a name without meaning in the owner community. This style of desktop has four versions / revisions (based on motherboard / CPU > each new Intel processor meant Aurora got a revised motherboard > R1 R2 R3 R4). The R1 (the 1st version released / built) has an X58-based motherboard / 1st Gen i7 CPU; if i7 975 then u have an R1. R4 support page and all drivers there are of no use for your application, visit R1 page only
You do not need a new Win7 DVD, and if Sil3132 is listed as installed in Device Mngr (storage controllers), then it is installed
The process is to install OS, install chipset driver 1st, then all the rest of the drivers obtained on Aurora support page, dell.com, Sil3132 SATA ranks near the last of the drivers that are installed. You can try to update the HDD driver, however it is common for many generic Win7 drivers to date to 2006
How to Install Chipset:
Unpack the setup.exe from the folder to a new folder on desktop
Create a desktop shortcut to the .exe
Add -overall to end of target line it should look something like this
"C:\Users\**YOURPCNAME**\Desktop\New folder\SetupChipset.exe" -overall
Right click shortcut and select "Run As Administrator.
Follow install instructions and reboot PC when installation finishes.

Thanks for the information regarding Aurora R1+ R4 Sorry but I only know that it was sold as a Aurora R4 but looking at the case its looks very much the same as a R4 .I have no idea what the difference is I only know my mother board is a MS-7591 Motherboard | Dell 4VWF2 Alienware Aurora Alx Board .The other difference I can see is my air louvers move were as the A1 are fixed .
Before I did a clean install I never got a error message telling me that there is no Serial ATA Controller driver installed but now I do so it was just trying to get rid of the error message .
I have no Idea if the R1 looks the same but looking a side view of the R1 and R4 it looks very much the same . Its clear however its not a straight forward down load job so I think its best I leave it to someone who knows .
Many thanks again for all your help .

I can't debate you over 3 or 4 posts regarding R1/R4. Wikipedia.com > Alienware > Desktops > Aurora has a basic breakdown of the difference between the 4 revisions or versions. They all basically look the same outside, the differences are inside and revolve around what generation of processor (which version of an i7) was shipped in it.
newer R4 Intel skt 2011 Sandy/Ivy mthrbrd is way different from older skt 1366 R1 board. We distinguish R1 R2 R3 R4 by virtue of which Intel processor was shipped inside of it. There is no such thing as an A1 A2 A3 A4
R1 - R4 Auroras with a fixed mesh top = 'Aurora'. Those with louvers are ALX models. It is typical on the used market for sellers to erroneously use the words R4 and ALX
Again, do u have an issue where some device will not work because an error message of some type says no SATA controller driver installed? Everything needed to have a successful Win7 install is found on the support page.
Because the Area-51 R1 ATX mthrbrd is remarkably similar to Aurora R1 m-ATX mthrbrd, my best advice would be to clone or image your hard drive 1st (make software changes on the clone, if successful then induce change to original drive), or create a restore point on the one there, and install the JMicron eSATA driver, see if it helps, and if not, try the Matrix Mngr. If neither help, uninstall them and do a pre-install system restore
