Need some input from those who know

Question

I'm looking for some input from the forum members between two laptops I'm looking at one of which is obviously an Alienware. My issue right now is the first laptop which is a Toshiba Qosmio 18" laptop which comes with the I7-720 processor, 6 gb of memory, 1 Tb hard drive, 1 GB Geforce GTS 250M, DVD-RW/Blu Ray rom, and 1920 x 1080 LCD display all for $1999 Canadian. For the same system from Alienware (M17X) it would be $2749 CDN Dollars. Is there any reason why Alienware is priced so much higher than other competitors? Other sites like Origin and iBuypower you get alot more product for your $$$. Any help would be great guys.

Dell seems to charge more for their products when you do a pound for pound comparison.. i'm not sure really why.. I would go with the toshiba as their laptops are rated very well...

Alienware = Mercedes Benz

Compare FSB speed

Compare RAM speed

Compare Hard Drive speed (seek rate,buffer size)

Look at L2 and L3 memory (memory specifically used by the CPU for its own instruction sets)

Look at video card core speed,memory speed and pixel shaders

saying that i would say that in my experience Toshiba's are nice (had an old Satellite 1955-S803) and you could spend the extra money on upgrades etc
