Hi again, if you have tried everything else it may be time for a service call if your laptop is still under warranty, it sounds like you may have a missing or faulty webcam

Do any of your F-Keys have a picture of a camera on it? FN and the one with the picture of the camera did the trick for me.

Wow, so how do I have a missing or faulty webcam if it WORKS WHEN I USE CHATROULLETE like I stated in my post? It is definitely a software issue since OTHER web based software works fine. Also, I stated that my Fn do not have a picture of a camera on them. Since reading is hard I have attached a link to a picture. http://imgur.com/GbQBg9W

Your correct, it does not and I apologize. I did not see your original post and still don't. I will do anything I can to help. I have an Alienware M18 R2 so am somewhat familiar with it. I will look at your picture and see if it looks anything like mine.

Clearly being rude to people who are trying to help isn't a difficulty for you. I guess you could call Dell and have them help you. I am sure they are used to dealing with morons.

Trying being the key word. But just like Dell support, you aren't actually paying any attention and no one even read my post fully if they ask questions that I already addressed. You can call me a moron all you want but it still doesn't solve the problem.

Yours does not look anything like mine at all. Mine looks like the one this page http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/994/pg6/alienware-m17x-laptop-review-lighting.html except I have the extra keys on the left. Clearly there is a problem with the camera driver if yours will work with other software. I don't know if the version of your laptop will use a different driver for the camera or if maybe the driver you had installed got corrupted and even after installing it and uninstalling it left parts of it in there that blocked it from working. Dell is about as clear as mud when it comes to showing you the exact drivers you have installed compared to what they suggest you should install. Many time I have found after downloading and attempting to install software that is "recommended" the software is not even for the hardware actually installed on my computer.

Hi again Mattux355, sorry for the late response.

Then Andrew Si says to download Dell Webcam Central v2.00.44 from the Dell website. I create a profile and there are no downloads available.

You need to download Dell Webcam Central from My Dell Downloads. If you create a new account, it won't recognize your order nor let you download the software. You need to use the same account information you purchased the computer with.

If you still can't download it that way, send me a private message with your Service Tag and contact information so I can check if we can send you a physical copy. Just confirm it's not a hardware problem by testing the webcam on testmycam.net as well.

Let me know how it goes!

i have a similar problem - I had to replace my hard drive  and the idiots who did it said they would make it back to factory.  My re-spawn disk did not work since I went from the standard 750gb drive to a 500gb solid state - stating I needed a minimum size that was greater than 500 gb.

So, all my standard software for my MX17 R3 is gone - I did ensure I went to the dell alienware site and ensure my drivers were put back on.  My battery is dead so I can't do the bios update to ensure its up to date. but the software that came with my camera and I guess probably my DVD player is missing.  The windows Alien themes are gone.

I got respwan back I think, and Alien FX.  I am not sure what else I am missing
