Go into Setup -- F2 at powerup.  Is the AC adapter recognized, or showing "unknown" or "not installed"?

If the adapter is not recognized, the battery won't charge.  That's either a bad AC adapter, DC jack or mainboard.

If the adapter IS recognized, is the battery original to the system?  If it is, it's 5-6 years old and beyond its design life by a factor of two;  replace the battery.

Is it a Dell battery, or a knockoff?

come to think of it, i dont remember seeing dell or alienware anywhere on it, i had ordered it through amazon and paid more attention to the alphanumeric sequence to buy the new battery

It does not say dell or alienware, so maybe a knockoff? I can't tell

Try swealler batteries theyre offical alienware batteries that have a black sticker covering the logo.

I had one in my 15 r1 and it's way better than having the 6 year old battery originally in it.

I charged my laptop only 5 times because I keep it at 109% all the time.

If your Operating System is Windows 10 and 14 R1 works when connected to the mains, try Recovery options in Windows 10, click Here. If recovery option to previous version not working, click Here. Hope this helps. Kind regards.

You need to get a new battery because a knockoff battery will make the system refuse to charge it.
