15 R3, display issues, #2
I have an annoying issue with my Alienware 15 R3, whenever I need to restart or shutdown my laptop I get a screen that flickers after the Alienware logo. It's so bad now that I don't restart or shutdown my laptop. I did reinstall both Intel and Nvdia drivers and also reinstalled windows 10. One work around that seems to help is if I use the power button to put it in sleep mode and then push it again to wake it up. That clears the flickering every time. When I connect an external display that display shows no flickering. Running in safe mode works fine no flickering at all. I suspect it may have to do with the Intel 530 graphics and Nvidia 1060 not playing nice.

You should Do an ePSA text by clicking the F12 button until you see the option of ePSA to check your hardware.

Hi 3 Argentum,
I have already done that. I suspect that when it is logging into windows it seems to be setting the wrong refresh rate perhaps. I was able to recreate momentarily by switching the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 screen refresh rate to 48 Hertz. I use the workaround of hitting the power button to put it into sleep mode then waking it up from sleep and then the screen is fine. Very annoying, I can boot into safe mode with no issues. I know it has to be an update or something because when I upgraded to a bigger M.2 SD I ran a fresh install of win 10 and it had no problems until I started updating it. Then at some point some driver, or program changed how it opens windows.

Have you tried only using the integrated graphics for the Display by pressing FN and the F7 key?

It doesn't work. My integrated card does not show up in the Nvidia Control Panel either. I used to have it but the last time I tried Fn + F7 and rebooted integrated card doesn't show up now. I still see it in the device manager and even updated it but I have no way of switching now.

I believe a application or update is conflicting with your display.

That's the conclusion I came to also, just haven't had any luck as to which one. I have spent hours using msconfig and disabling one at a time then rebooting. Alas to no avail. Thank you for taking the time. I'm going to be out of town until Monday the 20th and have limited access to the internet so if you respond please don't think I'm ignoring you.
