15 R3, LED Lights not working, AlienFX, Net Framework, etc.
Good evening everyone, here's my problem, let's hope someone has a solution:
System: Alienware 15 R3, Windows 10.0.15063 64-bit Pro Edition, BIOS Version 1.2.4 1/25/2018
Problem: LED's lights, keyboard, side lights wont turn on // AlienFX wont recognize board, device
What I've tried:
- Completely removing and installing command center as advised here: Alienware Command Center Clean Install
- Downgraded/Upgraded BIOS to earliers and latests versions - still no lights
- Ran a complete SupportAssist.
- Formated disk and Freshly clean installed Windows 10 Pro instead of the old Windows 10 Home - still no lights
- Ran another SupportAssist for drivers update - no lights
- Contacted Dell, tech guy remoted in, tried reinstalling Command Center, nothing resolved - still no lights.
An appointment will be scheduled in 2 weeks after my trip for a tech to come over an look at the board, but so far by what've I seen online, everyone ended up with a new unit.
I hope that's not the problem here and someone has a solution for me. I have my error logs below that I get from
ALIEN FX and NET FRAMEWORK when starting the computer. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated it. Thank you much mates!

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

The application must also be compiled with debugging

Hi @muratze & @Tituzin as reported by many Dell users/customers the AWCC Suite refuses to install any of the AlienFX applications. Despite many requests within Dell community posts and Dell Cares saying that their AWCC installer has problems that they are trying to fix, Dell has consistently failed to provide a separate AlienFX installer.
Our Alienware 17 R5 Laptop has preinstalled AlienFX hardware that has never worked because the Dell AWCC always fails to detect any of the many LEDs. So we welcome the @T-Troll proposed GitHub Alienfx-tools Here that Dell Cares seemingly cannot provide. We look forward to getting our preinstalled AlienFX LED Lights working.
We have asked the Dell Community Here if it was possible to extract the AlienFX 2.0 applications from the Dell AWCC installer and force their installation. Hopefully T-Troll / alienfx-tools will also cater for AlienFX v2.0.

I have the same issue and receive the same error messages. Lights turned off suddenly after some update which I don't know. The application gives a specific error that it can not find an object at the software. It would not be so hard to find this missing object inside the code. Actually I don't want to turn on fancy RGB lights around the laptop anymore. But I need to turn on the keyboard lights at least. Could you please try to solve the issue. Also, for this issue, please do not suggest the uninstall/reinstall process to anyone anymore.

I looked at your thing and it said a .NET error so here you go:
https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework/net48
download that and see if that fixes it.

Hi @Alienware Area-51 ALX 2006 , thank you for your suggestion, but I have just installed a clean windows 10 and update it. After that, I checked the .net version and I already use the right version of .net as you mentioned. So it doesn`t solve my problem. Thanks
Hi @crimsom, thank you for your help. I have checked the GitHub link and also referenced projects on Github. But I think there is another major problem. Because also the projects on GitHub can not find the LightFx libraries of the application. Maybe the problem is all about the right installation. So maybe the installation wizard should be fixed, and It has to install right DLL's to the right location.
But no matter the problem, it shouldn't be so hard. This is an application coded by dell, and this is a laptop sold by dell. They know the hardware and they know the software's API and all the parameters of the API.
Hi @Dell, could you please tell the stories of the users to the developers of the application. If is there any agile development management style, the bug should have been fixed at the last release at least.
I don't want to solve the problem by installing Visual Studio and writing an application that calls to your API. This is not a support or help for a regular user. Also, I don't want to ask these questions anymore;
- where is the agile software development process?
- How many bug reports do you need to transfer this issue to your developers?
- How many years do you need to find the missing object at the software?
NOT: My expired warranty is not the case of this issue. I don't even remember this problem happened how many years ago.

Maybe dell will come and fix it for you because it's an application error?

Hi @muratze note you are asking @Dell Support to get their agile development management to revisit their AWCC Suite installer code to enable the default that all the AlienFX applications install. If it were to happen, it would help many Dell users/customers that have preinstalled AlienFX hardware. We have included some of the Alienware team names in this post. Hope you get a response from them (or send them a Private Message).
