15 R3, preparing Automatic Repair, stuck
To who can help,
I have an Alienware 15R3, and I cannot get it to go past the Preparing Automatic Repair screen.
It has a SSD and a HDD. Originally, it booted from the SSD drive, but I cloned everything to the HDD drive, and it worked fine, but now it won’t go past that screen, and I've tried all the repair options.
I went to the cmd prompt, and I tried a chkdsk command, and it un-mounted the drive, so I don’t know if that made it worse.
I’m currently doing a full diagnostic test, to check everything.
Thanks

I have recently started to experience this same problem. I haven't solved it but I have found a work around for me. I discovered that if you press the F12 key immediately the Alienware logo appears you enter the boot menu. I found an entry the listed my boot drive (which is considered otherwise inaccessible by the boot sequence). Moving down to the entry with the Cursor Keys on the keyboard and then pressing Enter boots the computer normally.
As well as the Preparing Automatic Repair option I have received a number of odd messages, three shown below:
Unable to detect Dell power supply
Battery not charging
Webcam failure
Since my computer is long out of warranty not even cursory help can be obtained from Dell. As a long time owner of Dell computers I am thoroughly disappointed. It might be time to switch my allegiance.
