15 R3, thermal pad sizes

I've been repasting my unit to get lower temps, but I can not find anywhere detailed descriptions of the thermal pads's thickness.

Could Dell (or anyone who knows) advise whether they are 1 or 1.5 mm, please?

I've taken measurements after taking my HS apart, though it still has the original pads in there. Considering they've been highly compressed for over 3 years now, I'm not sure if the roughly 1 mm that I got (on the longer ones) are reliable.

Thanks

1mm are the stock ones that don't really conduct much heat.

1.5mm ones are very good at conducting heat as I've  tested them on my 17 R4 and gotten significantly lower temps on 1.5mm.

Yeah, I get that but I'm also a bit sketched on using the incorrect size and end up misplacing the HS as a result.

What did you use though? Fujipoly?

Even after a repaste, I don't really like my temps.. 48C idling. Might do the PCH mod and a couple other things.. but repadding is the first logical step.

I mean that’s actually pretty good for what you have it at, undervolting helps the cpu keep its cool but then at the same time you’re taking voltage away from it and basically starving it of electricity.

thats why when you overclock a cpu, you increase voltage.

Yes, I realise that. (though I disagree about the temps, they are far to high in my opinion. The keyboard becomes almost untouchable under heave load)

Still, I'd like to know the pad sizes. I've a rough idea based on the 17R4, which use the same HS, if I am not mistaken?

It’s 1.5mm, I can confirm because I took a measurement of my 17 R4.

All of them?

Did you have a hard time balancing the HS to get good temps ?

Nope, it fit just fine and the heatsink is even when screwing the HS back in.
