15 R4, USB Type-C problem
Hi,
I have a problem with some USB-C devices with Windows 10 Pro.
After having inserted some devices in the usb-c port to the left of the laptop, the program Alienware TypeC Accessory opens saying "this type-c port only support USB 3.0 and other legacy USB functionality".
I did some tests with a 2.5-inch external HDD Westerndigital 4Tb USB 3 and after connecting it appears that message and opens the disk, I use it for about 4-5 seconds and then turn off ALL the USB ports and restart .
If I connect that disk via USB type A it works perfectly.
I tried to update all the drivers, through Driver Easy and Intel site, are the latest versions and I can not solve the problem.
I have already disabled the energy saving of usb ports but nothing.
Someone have solutions for fix this?
Thanks.

The AW15R4 left port is a USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-C) port and the back port is a Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C) port.
Specifications:
USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-C) port
Connect to external storage devices. Provides data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps.
Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C) port
Supports USB 3.1 Gen 2, DisplayPort 1.2, Thunderbolt 3 and also enables you to connect to an external display using a display adapter.
Provides data transfer rates up to 10 Gbps for USB 3.1 Gen 2 and up to 40 Gbps for Thunderbolt 3.
What is the difference between USB-C and Thunderbolt 3?
USB Type-C, or USB-C, is a specification for connectors and cables. Some of the key features include:
Thunderbolt 3 defines a superset of capabilities that runs on USB-C connectors and cables. In brief, Thunderbolt 3 brings Thunderbolt to USB-C. Here are the superset of features that Thunderbolt 3 provides:

@Alienware-Eimy
This is not a solution for our problem.
I Know very well my laptop specs (I'm are a Sysadmin!) I have more devices usb 3.1 type-c and for example, on my Hard Drive 3.1 Gen2 Type C (10Gbps) and my laptop have the same specs on Type C port (left side), 3.1 Gen2 (10Gbps) but when I connect ANY USB 3.1 device (Gen1 or Gen2) Dell Alienware TypeC Accessory says that device is not compatible and some times the connection is reseted (depend what device are connected) and the speed is limited like USB 2.0 (30-40MB/s).
Also, with the USB TypeC on Thunderbolt 3 works fine and the speed is arround 200-300MB/s (on my devices, 1 ssd, 2 hdd and 1 pendrive with typec plug).

I have the same issue with Alienware 15 R4.
After connected to a thunderbolt Samsung Portable SSD, it is not displayed in thunderbolt manager but works as an usb 3.0.

our problem is exactly the opposite!
Via USB we have problems keeping the device active, sometimes the device restarts (eg. Hdd usb 3.1) and sometimes only the writing comes that the port only supports devices 3.0 and not usb 3.1.

I PM'd the admin yesterday as requested in an earlier post, but no reply so far. I just found out that I also have this problem on a 2019 Alienware 15 R4. I've had a OWC travel dock plugged in for as long as I remember and I just needed to unplug it the other day and when I plugged it back in, I got this message.
