17 R4, installing Win10 from USB boot drive, help
Hello,
Long story short, my Alienware 17 r4 has been smacked with the blue screen of death—Recovery and need CD or USB and yada yada yada. I installed Win10 media from my chromebook running Chrome OS(I don't have any windows laptop in the entire vicinity, nor am I looking to borrow one because of the pandemic) using these instructions: https://technastic.com/create-a-bootable-usb-on-chrome-os/
So I think it's safe to say I have a USB boot drive for Windows 10 and I don't have problems with the boot drive end of it.
However, when I plug in my USB and hit F12, my USB does not show up. This is the screen I see:
Call me stupid, but the only relevant option I see is "USB Storage Device" under LEGACY BOOT.
I do a lot of looking online, but I can't seem to fix my problem. I'm told that I need to have Security Boot on, but that option is greyed out and it says disabled. Don't know how to get around that.
So I go to BIOS. Here are each of the screens if you guys want to know the exact specifics:
MAIN
Advanced
Miscellaneous Devices (under advanced tab)
Wireless is unnecessary I think
Security
Boot
If I try to create a boot option, it doesn't allow me to name a file path:
After pressing enter:
After pressing enter on boot64 under Add Boot Option:
Update:
So I found out how to get Secure boot on. This screen I have now is this:
I have no idea how to get around this. I have the same problem with trying to add a boot option.
Specs are on the Advanced section picture
Can anyone help me?
