17 R4, OC Controls Default configuration profile download
Does anybody have the default OC Controls profile for an Alienware 17 R4 that I can download? I'm trying to get OC controls to run, but it's unable to get the default profile, and won't let me change any settings.
I tried emailing Dell to get the original configuration files, but they responded saying that my system is out of warranty, and that I would need to pay money for additional warranty for them to help me.
I've read on other posts in the community center that people were able to get the profile manually and that it would work (I don't know where I would have to put the profile though).
Issue:
I bought a used Alienware 17 R4 and it came formatted with a fresh Windows 10 home install. I tried installing the Alienware OC Controls but am unable to use it because it can't download the default profiles. I get the following errors:
"Unable to download the configuration files. Please check your internet connection." (I'm connected to the internet)
"The application failed to load the predefined profiles, please connect to the internet and restart the application."
"Data configuration file is missing or invalid. Overclocking profiles cannot be created"
Troubleshooting History:
-All files obtained from Dell.com/support via Service Tag
1) Received Laptop with fresh Windows 10 Home installation (don't remember build). Update chipset, update drivers. Install Alienware Command Center. Install OC Controls (64-bit installer). Initial encounter with issue.
2) Uninstall and reinstall OC controls. Same issue.
3) Uninstall OC Controls, Uninstall Command Center. Reinstall OC Controls. Same issue.
4) Reinstall Windows 10 Home via USB, used Diskpart clean/format to wipe SSD before installing Windows 10. Updated drivers. Installed Alienware Command Center. Installed OC Controls (64-bit installer). Same issue.
5) Uninstalled and reinstalled OC controls. Same issue.
6) Uninstalled Alienware Command Center. OC still on system. Same issue.
7) Uninstall and reinstall OC control. Same issue.
8 ) Uninstall OC control and install using 32-bit installer. Same issue.
9) Install Alienware Command Center. Run OC controls. Same issue.
10) Uninstall OC controls. Uninstall MS VS 2015-2019 redistributable. Same issue.
System:
Alienware 17 R4 7820HK GTX 1080
