SupportAssist has been updated to version 3.4.5.366, but this update did not include hardware test of AlienFX LEDs.

Did not find any information on the difference between the new SupportAssist version 3.4.5.366 and the earlier version 3.4.1.49.

Where is the AlienFX Hardware Tester to be found or downloaded?

We do not know why the AWCC suite update does not detect the laptop specification and instead tries and fails to detect the AlienFX hardware devices. There is no option to manually override the AWCC suite update and force it to install all the FX applications, including the AlienFX hardware Tester.

How to Uninstall the Alienware Command Center

Alienware: Test lights with AlienFX Tester

This test lights video says Alienware folder has 174 items, but our folder only has 72 items.

Video says 174 files.jpg Our 72 items.jpg

The "How to Uninstall the Alienware Command Center" process does not work on our laptop! The AWCC window is stuck in a loop of trying and failing to install AWCC v5.2.81.0 (A00) March 26, 2020. The installation log is not saved and manually trying to save the log says it can only be saved by administrator, despite using our user administrator account (this is not the hidden administrator account).

Microsoft Store CC v5.2.81.0 (A00) update unsuccessful.jpg

Then try to install AWCC suite update from Dell Product Support using our user administrator account. The update says installation successful, but folder says only 67 items and Uninstall or change a program says AWCC is only 27.9MB in size.

@Alienware-Joe, our Alienware 17 R5 laptop specification says it has AlienFX devices installed as standard. Alienware Update says all updates have been installed. SupportAssist says there are no problems, despite the laptop being dark. Do you know anything about:-

  1. How do we manually force the AWCC suite update to install the 'missing' AlienFX applications?
  2. How do we extract MSI files from the AWCC suite update and manually install the 'missing' AlienFX applications?
  3. Where is the AlienFX Tester application available for download?

Thank you in anticipation. Kind regards.

Hello @Alienware-Joe, Device Manager says AWCC Driver is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Win10 Error Code 31). The device is not in a valid state to perform this request.

Troubleshooting report says there are problems with some PnP devices and recommends: (1) Troubleshoot problems with devices and printers. (2) Find and fix problems with devices and hardware. (3) Detect problems with network connectivity. (4) Find and fix problems with printing.

This thread is a month old and Dell-Cares have not provided a solution.

Our new 17 R5 is now two months old and unable to install the full AWCC suite of AlienFX applications.

Can Alienware 17 R5 laptops use the ASUS ROG Aura RGB keyboard lighting application?

Windows 12 May 2020 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 is installed, followed by restart. Revo Uninstaller is used to completely remove the Alienware-Command-Center-Application and the Alienware-OC-Controls-Application, followed by restart.

Alienware Update v3.1.2 fails to notice that the AWCC Suite is 'missing' and should be installed. Postulate Alienware Update application is not fit for purpose! This is a lost opportunity to have the AWCC Suite installed using the predefined permissions.

User admin account is used for manual install AWCC Suite and OC Controls, followed by restart. But this fails to install the 'missing' AlienFX applications (again). Our Alienware Laptop continues to be dark.

When are the highly paid Alienware code writers going to fix this persistent application code fault for their 17 R5 customers?

<< Let us scan your PC for common hardware issues >>

Full hardware test does not include detection and test of the AlienFX hardware devices.

Alienware 17 R5 Setup and Specifications' Keyboard shortcuts says:-

Enable AlienFX.jpg

But this Keyboard shortcut does not work.

Where is the 17 R5 AlienFX Tester application available for download?

What AlienFX plug-in device can the AWCC Suite detect and thereby encouraged to install all the AlienFX applications?

Hello @Alienware-Joe our 17 R5 is dark and we are trying to get our AlienFX devices detected by the AWCC Suite. Can any of the following be addressed?

Please update "How to resolve LED issues with your Backlit Keyboard using the latest Dell Utility",

Please update "How to Turn Off or On and Troubleshoot the Backlit Keyboard on Your Dell Notebook Computer", click Here

Please clarify "How to Enable or Disable Windows Mobility Center in Windows 10", click Here, is used with our Windows 10 Professional operating system to enable our Backlit Keyboard.

Thank you in anticipation. Kind regards.

Hello @Alienware-Joe, how is the AlienFX Tester .msi file, etc. extracted from the AWCC Suite's installation executable file?

codetwo offers three ways, see Here, but which .msi file is the AlienFX Tester application?

codetwo extraction process just found the Alienware Command Center Suite.msi file. Postulate when discovery does not detect AlienFX devices, the other .msi files are not created. So its back to the original question: where is download of AlienFX Tester to be found?

Try to install AWCC v5.2.75.0 .jpg

Hi @RealDeuce  there has been no offer from @DELL-Cares or any contributor to the Dell Community. Makes one wonder why there is a reluctance to help one another.
