17 R5, AWCC doesn't work

So I have the latest Windows 10 updates (1809), the latest Dell and Alienware drivers for everything, latest graphics drivers, latest BIOS...

However, the AWCC (Alienware Command Center) seems to break after an update yesterday (not sure what version it was) and the AlienFX entirely doesn't load or work, all the lights on laptop stuck on light blue. Essentially, the following happens:

AWCC only loads the Library and Fusion tabs

The Fusion tab sits in a "loading" state forever and if you click on the Temperature or the Power buttons, AWCC entirely crashes with no error message or popup

The keyboard and all side lights load up but I cannot change or enable/disable them, even with keyboard buttons. It stays permanently on light blue.

Tried to install all versions from Dell's AWCC driver website, nothing helps. Think it is not a hardware fault because through installation the lights changes in rainbow for a few seconds.

Waiting for help, have no more strength trying to fix this issue... 😥

Hi @Algirdas.Benetis  similar problem. Our new 17 R5 laptop is always in dark mode. AWCC has always been problematic from out of the box, and our Computer Management > Event Viewer > Custom Views > Device Manager - AWCC Driver says:-

  1. Error: Event 411, Kernnel-PnP,  Problem Status: 0xC00000BB.
  2. Information: AWCCDriver_Device.NT, DriverRank 0xff0000.

AWCC only loads the Library and Fusion tabs.

AlienFX 2.0 applications are not installed.

Hi @Alienware-Joe  have used Programs & Features to remove AWCC v5.2.91.0 and OC Controls v1.3.0.1239. Have run System File Checker Utility and Repair Windows System Image so that 17 R5 Operating System Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version 2004 (build 19041.450) is fully optimised.

Programs & Features says installation of legacy AWCC v5.2.1.0 is recognised, but now different from previous attempts to install legacy AWCC applications, as perpetually tries and fails to install remaining components. AlienFX 2.0 applications have not been installed (again).

If AWCC v5.2.1.0 installation ever fully completes, which legacy version of OC Controls should be installed?

AWCC v5.2.1.0 has been trying to install, but will now terminate so that the laptop can be switched off.

Event 1002, Application Hang

The program AWCC.exe version 5.2.1.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

Hi @Alienware-Joe  legacy AWCC v5.2.1.0 is still trying to load components.

You have not replied and AWCC keeps asking to install OC Controls v1.3.0.1239. However Windows Security was not happy and reported it could not verify the publisher of this OC Controls' driver software. We installed this driver software anyway, and was forced to accept two times, before it installed.

The legacy AWCC v5.2.1.0 is still trying to load components. AlienFX 2.0 is not installed (again).

Hi @Alienware-Joe  the legacy AWCC v5.2.1.0 is still trying to load components.

  1. AWCC v5.2.1.0 starts with all four tabs. HOME, LIBRARY, FX, FUSION. Upgrading AWCC components fail.
  2. AWCC v5.2.1.0 stops working and  (Event 1002: Application Hang) white window with Alienware logo makes a brief appearance.
  3. AWCC v5.2.1.0 starts with only two tabs. LIBRARY, FUSION. Upgrading AWCC components fail.
  4. AWCC v5.2.1.0 is still trying to load components, but no AlienFX 2.0 applications are loaded. (Event 1000: Application Error) Prompted to install AWCC v5.2.91.0, but decline because update does not install any AlienFX 2.0 applications.

Hi. I followed all the steps in the guide which did not help at all. I had experienced the same issue last year. After a while, during the updates, it had been fixed. However, a few days ago, the problem reoccurred after the most recent update. Why is an update disturbing a working system? If it disturbs, why are you releasing it? Why are you making us try to solve puzzles? I lost a lot of time in trying to resolve this issue. Recommend a "sound" working tested remedy. Please make sure that you tested it first. I do not want trial and errors anymore. Recommend a real direct solution. I am tired of this kind of forum work like teenagers in early 2000s.

Now, a virtual assistant asked my service code etc via private message. But, on the private messages , the reply icon disappeared. So, I cannot reply...

Hi @Gurkan06  these Dell Alienware 17 R5 Laptops are expensive and the Dell AWCC code writers keep getting it wrong. Our $3,000 new 17 R5 was delivered and continues with AlienFX in dark mode. If anyone has the AlienFX working on their laptop NEVER UPDATE THE AWCC application.

Please recommend the working combination of command  center and  oc verdions with dates. This is terrible. There is no solution, but just stories

Just get a replacement laptop from dell as it seems that if you haven’t reinstalled windows yet and the issues still arise then it’s a hardware issue.

Id recommend reinstalling windows from a usb stick and then install the media creation tools.
