17 R5, battery is swollen
The Alienware 17 R5 laptop I bought in May 2019 came in 1.5 years: the battery is swollen.
2 years/2 months/18 days old. The purchased warranty expired on September 25, 2019. 1 year/2 months/19 days ago. DELL-Admin>
Luckily I noticed it immediately, while using the mouse I felt a swelling under my right hand; When I opened the inside of the laptop and looked, I saw that the battery was in this state. do you think this is a normal thing? Is it normal for a 1.5 year old Dell Alienware battery to swell? I do not think so! I have 10 years old toshiba qosmio x505; its battery is dead and it is still on it. It did not swell even though it was plugged in 24/7. Isn't it very interesting? It is very sad that the laptop I bought with so much money has become like this in 1.5 years. but I will spread this on social media with photos so that everyone can see the true face of Dell Alienware. Worst of all, this is not even under warranty! Like a joke.

No it isn't normal but it does happen. Even with extended warranties Dell will only cover the battery for 1 year which shows that they know there is a chance of this happening and they don't want to cover it. I believe most manufacturers have the same policy though. They also do not make the batteries themselves.
Make sure that you get rid of that battery ASAP. Take it to a recycling facility that accepts laptop batteries.

Hi @alienwarefe Yes, battery swelling is known to occur. Dell has posted 17 R5 Support for Handling swollen Lithium-ion batteries. The Dell battery warranty is to get a replacement battery for user (not to be confused with Dell computer warranty).
For the typical user, noticeable reduction in battery run time generally will be observed after 18 to 24 months. For a power user, reduction in run time generally may be experienced within 18 months. Dell recommends buying a new laptop battery when the run time does not meet your needs. Battery FAQ.
For users to get OEM replacement battery, typically go to parts people, etc.
