Hi @jdb2

Uninstall the current version of Alienware OC Controls from Apps & features, reboot the system and then install the new version.

If the issue persists, send me a private message with the Service Tag so I can review your case.

Thanks for your prompt reply! I apologize for my belated response.

I did as you suggested and I uninstalled Alienware OC Controls as well as the Alienware Command Center. Even though I had saved my color profiles, everything was reset anyway and I had to re-create the profile from scratch.

After having re-booted and installed the Alienware OC Controls and Command Center, I was able to install updates successfully.

The problem I'm having now is that my Alienware FX lighting sometimes doesn't show up in the pre-boot environment and I have to get it working by launching the Alienware Command Center app. Also, the app now often displays a white background with a light grey alien head, and doesn't respond. When it does launch correctly, sometimes I see several spinning circle-of-dots progress indicators that never stop. I don't know what's causing this.

Thanks and regards,

I had same issue and fixed it, decided to post here in case it helps anyone else searching for help.

  • Dell G7 7590 - Received new, installing updates, error: Alienware OC Controls v1.2.38.1216 (AOO) June 17, 2019 The update installer operation is unsuccessful
  • I found another post with these instructions: "Uninstall the current version of Alienware OC Controls from Apps & features, reboot the system and then install the new version."
  • Uninstalled Alienware OC Controls from Settings>Apps, was v1.2.34.1214
  • Rebooted
  • Opened Alienware Command Center, and got an error something about how the device or component is not supported by the software and when one that is supported is detected then it'll do its thing. The previous version ran so saying my setup isn't supported was odd. I rebooting again, opened Alienware Command Center again, and this time I got the popup that additional Alienware software was needed. I downloaded, installed, rebooted, then I had the updated version v1.2.38.1216 and everything is working fine.

"The application failed to load the predefined profiles, please connect to the internet and restart the application"

I have the latest versions of everything, and am connected to the internet, yet i still get this. (BIOS stuff is enabled in performance)

Also i get this...

"Data configuration file is missing or invalid. Overclocking profiles cannot be created."

I dont know what to do... any ideas?
