17 R5, SSD upgrade, #5
Hello,
I want to upgrade the SSD of my laptop to 500gb. Which one do you suggest me without having any compatibility issue?
I m thinking to purchase Sasmung 970 evo plus
At the moment has the factory insalled SSD Toshiba KXG50ZNV256G NVMe. This ssd underperfoms in AW laptops.. its a comon issue that easily can be found with google search.. without a provided solution by DELL.
Thank you in advance

Hi @Ma3stros search for ultra fast PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 MVMe, e.g. The Fastest M.2 NVMe SSD. The 17 R5 does not support PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 MVMe, only get this to future proof install into your next laptop and make sure it is backward compatible with 17 R5 interface of PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 MVMe. However, if next laptop years away, pointless getting PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 MVMe. The best read/write speeds are usually 1TB or 2TB capacity, e.g. 10 Best 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD.

You can't go wrong with Samsung 970 Evo Plus. They're also on sale right now for black friday week Amazon, ebay, best buy, etc.
I also use this has my primary drive with my 17 R5.

How did you get this to boot? It doesn't appear in my bios and I can't even benchmark it but it has my migrated OS on it
