Alienware 13 r2 boot from usb
So I'm trying to repair my old Alienware R13 after one of the RAM chips stopped working and, eventually, it stopped detecting a boot device on the HDD. My goal is to boot with a Windows 10 bootable USB and try to repair the existing boot. Barring that, I'd like to wipe the HDD and reinstall windows (assuming I can find the activation ID).
The biggest problem I'm facing is when I boot from the USB I made with the Windows Installation Media tool (and I have tried making one with Rufus using an ISO) I'm able to select the boot option and begin booting from my drive, but then the computer hangs with the windows 10 logo on a black screen and the loading circle spinning until it eventually reboots.
I'm hoping for advice on getting the USB stick to boot. I don't post to forums and such often, so I'm happy to provide any information that I've left out or move my query somewhere more appropriate. The specs on the laptop are the normal specs of the R13 but with only 4GB of ram currently. I can give a more detailed account if necessary if instructed on how to generate a more in depth report.
