Alienware 15 R2 Macro Keys Not Lighting Up But Are Functioning

I had an issue with my spacebar not working so i ordered a new keyboard from Dell Parts. I got the keyboard and realized it didnt have the macro keys attached like the one that came in my computer. I called Dell once again and told them they sent wrong keyboard. They informed me that it comes in two parts the keyboard and the macro keys. Since it was only the space bar that didnt work and they informed me i could just used the original macro keys i did just that .. i put the computer back together and everything works fine .. EXCEPT the macro keys will not light up. When i bring up the alienware command center . it shows the colors the macro keys are suppose to be .. i can switch between all three but there is no lighting. i did the alienware tester and the keyboard changes to all the colors but again .. nothing on the macro keys ... the macro keys cable was attached to the old keyboard with the sticky substance .. and when i removed it i did it very slow as to not damage the cable.  any ideas?
