Alienware 17 R2 Charging Issues

Does anyone know how to find out what the issue is or a video that will show me how to find out?

I have to keep my charging cord at a particular angle or my laptop won't charge.  I have cleaned it out with air and looked into the connection area and see nothing that is causing the issue.  There is nothing wrong with the cord or connector but if I don't keep it at a particular angle my lap top won't charge.

We did do a total diagnostic and there is nothing wrong with my battery.

Make sure the center pin in the DC plug is straight, centered and undamaged.  It completes a logic circuit that allows the battery to charge.

if there's evident damage, replace the adapter.

If not, the other possibility is that the DC jack is damaged.

Replacement instructions and a source for the part here:

Does anyone know how to find out what the issue is or a video that will show me how to find out why my picture is distorted ?

My laptop monitor will not start up without some gyrations to the lid and when it does turn on the picture is all grainy and distorted.

We hooked it up to my television and the graphics were perfect, started fine etc.  so we did a full diagnostic on it and it said everything was perfect......

Now the only thing we can think of is that a connector from the LCD screen/monitor is loose somewhere and I will need to open it up to check the connection(s).

My ex-husband would hold it about a foot off the table and drop it -don't ask...but did this several times...so I'm guessing a connection was loosened...any help on how to find out?

Let @crimsom Know if you fixed it yet? All I could say is either contact alienware for a repair technican or just go to the nearest Microcenter for repair.

Hi @Starlight68  Please click on Product Support and allow Dell to identify system's Model and Revision number, to share on this user to user discussion forum. Check your warranty status. This is not Dell Support. This is a public forum, do not share your private System Service Tag or Express Service Code. Thank you.

From OP, your assessment that screen cable wants reseating into motherboard socket is reasonable. Dell Service Manual and YouTube Videos will reveal how this is undertaken. Please decide if you or a colleague have the appropriate skills. (Dell offers 'Out of Warranty' repair in some countries and support regions.)

I would follow what @ejn63 said about either replacing the Adapter or the DC jack.. Maybe both!

But seriously let us know what happens afterwards and if you can't preform the installation and removal of the necessary components that need to be replaced then you can send it to a professional store for service or ALIENWARE.
