Alienware M17xR4 GPU fan controller not working properly.
So after playing games at 15 fps and not knowing why I decided to investigate. I found out that my GPU was overheating and the cause was the fan controller not responding to my gpu's temps. I decided that constantly having to turn HWiNFO on to override the fan controller and having it stop responding after running a few hours that I wanted to get this issue fixed and done right.
I contacted Dell and they told me it was a "Software" issue and that if I want it resolved to pay up 129 + tax for 1 time support or 239 + tax for 1 years Unlimited Advanced Software coverage. -_- I'm confused by what they meant by software issue and am very curious as to what software is the issue. Isn't it basically downloading a patch for the software and if so isn't it a known issue? Ultimately I don't think I should have to pay for a full disclosed answer when I can just fix it myself. If any one knows whats causing this "Software" issue and what "Software" it is please let me know.
