Area-51m R, GPU overheating every minute, making it unusable
I'm a VR developer and I've been using this Alienware laptop for almost a year now, but suddenly I have been getting these constant framedrops in VR. It turns out the GPU is throttling every minute, once it hits 81 degrees. Is there a way to fix this?

Sometimes you can only go this far with adjusting power voltage drivers etc... maybe opening it up and apply a new thermal paste is what you really need to do.

My Alienware x17 sits on a "tiltable", wire mesh laptop stand.
It breaths beautifully with the entire bottom of the x17 open/breathing through mesh.
Cheap $15.
You could also try "cooling" laptop stands with additional cooling fans built into the laptop stand.
