Area-51m R2, does adding a hard drive void warranty?
I am going to buy an Alienware Area-51m R2 in the near future as it's the only "laptop" that has that level of performance and a 2.5" drive bay at that price point.
Since in the configurator there is no 2TB hard drive option, can I buy it with just the SSD and then add an aftermarket hard drive (barracuda ST2000LMZ15) without voiding the warranty as stated here?

Hi @Simone Castello Dell expects users to change internal hardware. Removing the rear panel does not invalidate your Dell warranty. The Dell warranty does not cover if you have made a mistake.
Not sure what you are asking about having drives because your terminology is not specific. Dell has provided M.2 guidance in knowledge base article SLN301626. Is your preference to only have HDDs in a laptop? The preferred solution would be to have external HDDs for disaster recovery as they are good at retaining information when drive is not in constant use. Internal SSDs are preferred because they do not have moving parts and tolerate the bangs and bumps that laptops are prone to as they are moved around.

Hi @Simone Castello the clarification of Dell warranty criteria in your link was very good. It only provides warranty for the original dell purchase and dell warranty replacements. If returned under warranty, remove any user hardware upgrades.
