Area-51m R2, Ultra performance missing

Hi Guys,

I’ve just done a full factory reset on my Area-51m R2 to clean the drives as they were full. When I’ve reinstalled all the latest AW software and updates, the Ultra performance mode is missing from AWCC? All I’m left with is High performance and Balanced performance. Does anyone know how to get this back?

Hi @Pgraham93 thank you for sharing update.

The Ultimate Performance power plan is not available by default for laptops, it is hidden and can be enabled by Command Prompt or PowerShell command. How to Enable the Ultimate Performance Power Plan in Windows 10 (howtogeek.com)

Hi @Pgraham93 welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Windows 10 includes the following default power plans:

  • Balanced - Offers full performance when you need it and saves power when you don't. This is the best power plan for most people.
  • Power saver - Saves power by reducing PC performance and screen brightness. If you're using a laptop, this power plan can help you get the most from a single battery charge.
  • High performance - Maximizes screen brightness and might increase PC performance. This power plan uses a lot more energy, so your laptop battery won't last as long between charges.
  • Ultimate Performance - Only available by default in the Windows 10 Pro for Workstations edition starting with Windows 10 build 17101. Provides Ultimate Performance on higher end PCs. It builds on the High Performance power plan, and goes a step further to eliminate micro-latencies associated with fine grained power management techniques. As this power plan is geared towards reducing micro-latencies it may directly impact hardware; and consume more power than the default balanced power plan. The Ultimate Performance power plan is not available on battery powered systems. With Ultimate Performance, your computer will use more power than it needs. For most users, especially Windows 10 Pro and Home users, this power plan is not recommended.

Strange,

I have windows 10 which came with the laptop, but when I was messing about with it trying to get the AGA to work I reinstalled AWCC and the ultra setting was there along with high performance and balanced, I’ve just done a factory reset and all I have now is high performance and balanced.

I have this problem, I have an M15R5 and I had high performance and balanced mode, but after a factory reset due to issues I only have the balanced mode and the performance isn't as good as it should be.

You can check this in Settings > System > About. Now, open Settings >System > Power & sleep >  Power Settings. Under Choose to customize a power plan, expand the option which says “Unhide Additional plans.
