With permission from one year RTB warranty holder, the rear warranty seal was removed so that main battery could be disconnected and laptop power dissipated as part of the process to install the AWCC suite on our new 17 R5. This solution did not work and laptop continues to be dark.

Having removed the rear base panel, we noticed that a few securing screws had not been returned to secure internal parts and could see the circular marks where the screws had previously been. We now doubt that the AlienFX lights have had their power cables physically plugged into their sockets. This would explain the AWCC warning that no AlienFX devices were detected. The laptop was delivered with this persistent fault and Dell have not supplied the AlienFX Test application, despite having received many requests.

This is our first Dell Laptop and we also doubt that there are any quality checks at end of assembly. The one year RTB warranty is meaningless.

Wow.. I just posted up about my experience. I got mine and it had a bad keyboard out of the box. I waited 3 weeks for it, got it and needed to send it back on day 1. They have had it for a week now and it will be another "4 to 5 business days" . So disappointed in this company.
