M14x R1,16GB ram upgrade
Hello All,
Good Day!
I have been using M14x R1 for the last 10 years and it has done me good. However due to work my machine cannot support the stress of multiple VM's. To fix it i have invested in "Kingston 16GB(8*2) DDR3 at 1600MHz and Kingston 960GB SSD.
Once completed installing the components, i troubleshooted them to check if there was any issue. I discovered that my RAM was causing some errors.
- I checked on my Win10, it detects that it is running on 16GB
- however when i run the diagnostic test for 16GB RAM at bios it prompts me "Memory - integrity test discrepancy"
- further troubleshooting, i checked each ram slots with a single ram (8GB) no error triggered.

Hi @kumanan welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.
Unfortunately, the links (?) in the opening post do not work. The Alienware m14x Setup Guide pdf page 74 says install memory DDR3-12800 or DDR3-1600 up to 8GB.
The Crucial System Advisor database says install DDR3L-1600 1.35V up to 8GB maximum. Alienware M14x | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com. DDR3 are single voltage power of 1.50V and DDR3L are dual voltage power of 1.35V and 1.50 V. DDR3 vs DDR3L: Which Should You Buy? – 2022 Guide (digitaladvisor.com).
Does your Kingston 16GB (8GBx2) DDR3-1600 have voltage power of 1.35V?
The system board's power supply to the memory is designed for 8GB not 16GB. Perhaps this explains why Dell error code 2000-0123 Memory - integrity test discrepancy has appeared to say memory is not fully powered.
