The two most common causes of the failure to recognize the AC adapter are the adapter itself, or the DC input jack. First try a new OEM Dell adapter -- if it's recognized then you know the cause. If not, and your specific model has a jack mounted on a cable that plugs into the system board, replace the DC jack (not all Alienware systems do -- on some, the jack is soldered to the system board).
I’ve tested the battery multiple times and it’s showing normal function (although it won’t charge). I tried an OEM dell AC adapter, but it is still doing the same thing. I don’t know how to solder. Would I probably be best off taking my laptop to a local pc repair shop and asking them to replace the dc jack? And if I do that, should I buy the part first and take it in?
(note: there are other Alienware models such as the Alienware 15 and M15X -- which use different parts than the M15, so verify the model you have before buying).

Two adapters not being recognized means the problem is with the jack or power circuit.
For the original M15, this is the part to try next:
