m15 R3, GPU fan not working

The GPU fan of my Alienware m15 R3 does not spin. I originally thought it was due to worn out bearings, but have since replaced both fans of the machine, without resolving the issue. The machine boots up and runs like normal, and the CPU fan runs fine, but the GPU fan does not spin at all. When powered off and spun manually (lightly with a finger or toothpick), the fan gives some resistance and doesn't spin smoothly like it should. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks for any help

Hi @ecco1k welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.

If new Alienware m15 R3 laptop was purchased with Dell warranty, you have Reject option within the first 30 days and thereafter this problem can be fixed under warranty. Dell Refund policy, New vs Refurbished - Dell Community.

Having replaced the CPU and the GPU fan, both should spin up briefly during POST (Power on Self-Test) or the power-on button LED diagnostics should report a hardware fault. System diagnostic lights

Please look at the four-wire electrical connection to GPU fan to ensure that electrical cable is correctly connected to the system board (motherboard). Installing the fan. Having replaced the GPU fan assembly, did the new fan spin correctly before installation?
