m15 R3, high CPU frequency at all times
I have had my m15 R3 for about 6 months and the entire time I have only managed to get at most 40 minutes on battery. I realize that with a 300hz display and 2070 super its not gonna last all that long but this seems exceedingly short. Even with the display set to 60hz, brightness very low and battery saver on its still 40 minutes. I looked and it appears to be because the CPU frequency is always at 4.5GHZ give or take. The only fix I could find is to remove Alienware OC controls, that puts things where I would expect them to be for battery life, but I then loose control for fans and stuff in AW CC. Once I reinstalled AW OC the battery drain immediately returns. Looking for some new ideas to get this sorted.

I have exactly the same machine as you and have experienced similar, though not exactly the same, issues. The best I've been able to do is 2 hours and 40 minutes, with the screen set to one-third brightness at 60 hz and the PC set to power saving mode (though that was done about an hour into the test ... not sure if starting off that way would make battery performance much better). I've also noticed that the processor is often in the range of 4.0 GHz, even when only watching videos or surfing the web. I don't have the temperature issues a lot of people have; typically, mine is in the range of 53 C - 70 C, spiking on rare occasions to 90 C. I don't believe AWCC is creating an issue, at least on my machine, but it may be the case for yours. Your 40 minute time seems excessive to me and you may want to talk to Dell about it.
In my case, I'm not too concerned about battery drain, mainly because I bought mine a month ago in lieu of building my own desktop gaming machine (as an FYI, the best price I've seen recently for a desktop RTX 2070 Super in new condition is $1,500 US, a completely absurd proposition. And, that was for an MSI card, not a "high end" card manufacturer like eVGA. Their cards are virtually impossible to get new.). To even try to build a modern machine right now is an exercise in frustration and much $$$$$.
Best of luck and let us know how it turns out. I wish I could be more help but the comparison between duplicate machines may be of help in itself.
