m15 R3, invalid service tag
I purchased new Alienware m15 R3 laptop, I want to register device but I cannot register? I tried to register device in Dell website and tried to Alienware OS recovery as well. However, the system cannot find my device service tag. Please help me how to register.
Thanks

Hi @eddyjung welcome to the user to user forum. Please click on Support for Alienware m15 R3 and look for Not sure? and click on Detect your PC. This will tell you if your automatic registration has been undertaken and the status of your system's warranty. Next, click on the Support's Drivers and Downloads tab, and when web page opens, look to the right and click on [Detect Drivers]. This will customise Support for your system service tag and may offer update suggestions. Download the SupportAssist application, right click and Run as administrator to install, then Restart. The SupportAssist application will then provide desktop support for your system service tag.

If you bought the computer from Dell it is automatically registered. It takes a little time to be added to the database.
There is a sticker on the computer with the service tag. Find it yourself. OR see this.
How to Locate your System Service Tag Using Command Prompt
If you bought it from an unauthorized reseller, you need to use the Transfer of Ownership form.

It may take 15 business days to get into the database after registering.

Hi @eddyjung this is what you will see when the desktop SupportAssist window is opened. On the top right, the user specific information has been replaced with a white box. From left to right:-
Alienware: this is the system model. Yours will say m15 R3.
Service Tag: also known as serial number. Yours will display the 7 digit alpha numeric copied from the serial number on your main board. The user to user forum threads are public, so never put your service tag in your post.
User Symbol: This is the user name used in the Dell community user to user forum. Yours will say eddyjung.
