m15 R3, no Nvidia Optimus

Why does my Alienware m15 R3 not have the Nvidia Optimus option in it? While travelling it is difficult to maintain the battery. I have the 300Hz display and no Nvidia Optimus. I think we need a update for it to use iGPU for better battery life. I know it's because of 300Hz display but please give a update so that while shifted we can experience 144Hz so that battery will last longer. It's not only my problem but everyone with 300Hz are suffering! This really a bad thing for the Alienware laptops. Is there any help to contact the development team so that we can raise a issue?

The design thinking was likely that anyone going for a 300Hz panel and (probably) an RTX GPU was after the best performance they can get, likely with G-Sync as well. That means you don't have the hybrid option. It's a full power gaming system where battery life takes a backseat to performance.

There are plenty of options that do have Optimus enabled - of course you won't get flat-out gaming/video performance with those.

You have to choose your priorities - if you buy this system with a lower end GPU and a lower refresh panel, you can have optimus -- or, there's the XPS 15 lineup.  Both of these will give you better battery life you'll never get from a maxed-out gaming system.

The battery life out of the box is only 2hrs max and that to for normal websurfing which is not good at all.

When i contacted dell technical support team they said 'That option is not available with the 300Hz display configuration.'   'It is because of the 300Hz display energy consumption.'

But they can give optimize option so that it can shift to 144hz and give better battery life for normal basic web surfing and office work.

See for sometimes while travelling and for basic office works we don't need heavy graphics for that time we can enable optimus and enjoy the battery.

The 144hz has optimus even for 300hz if they cant give optimus for 300hz refresh rate they can give 144hz refresh rate while working in optimus for better battery life that is what my suggestion is. out of the box its not even 2 hours battery backup thats not a satisfactory thing.

The laptop is mainly bought for portable and battery. if that is only not supportively working then whats the use of it???

It's simple:  you purchased a system for power gaming, not portability.  If you're within 30 days of shipment, return the system and order a system more suited to portable use, such as an XPS 15 or a different Alienware 15 without the high refresh screen.

you have the NVidia control panel right? I'd go inside the tabs that control for PhysX and the manage 3d settings so that you can set those both to Intel if your CPU has a iGPU and that should help. if it doesn't then I'd recommend searching in the task bar for graphics and then you'll see a setting's option for selecting apps that will either use the iGPU or the High performance NVidia.

If the system is less than 30 days from shipment, request a refund.

There's no way to retroactively change the design of the system, and since this model has already been replaced, the redesign you want is a moot issue.
