m15 R4, new, died, OS_Boot_Failure
Hi.
I bought a new m15 R4 about 6 weeks ago and it just died.
There is something about an unexpected_kernal_mode_trap and then I got a message about an OS_Boot_Failure.
Startup repair didn't work.
I did a hardware test and everything passed.
It then tried to restore the system to a restore point - which I think was the point when I got the machine - but that failed.
I'm basically going through a reset now and it's just slowly backing up my data before resetting - was just wondering if anyone has had a similar prob?
Thx
ps. while it was working it was good

Update September 28 = A DELL-Cares agent troubleshot and a Windows 10 Reset was performed and seemed to correct the issue.

Hi @jmgold welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
How to Troubleshoot Blue Screen or STOP Error Code on a Dell Computer | Dell US
How to Fix Blue Screen in Windows 10 (Official Dell Tech Support) - YouTube
The unexpected_kernal_mode_trap is one of the Windows 10 errors that often show a Blue Screen and cause PC crashes and freezes.
The system has generated a trap and the kernel failed to catch the trap. The error code provides additional information on what caused the blue screen.
Please share the error code. Thank you.

@crimsom thanks. i tried Dell support but it's the weekend and ran into some trouble because the OS said it failed and couldn't get back into Windows. The startup and system repairs didn't work so had to reinstall windows - still waiting to see what happens. But yeah - if it was during the week i would have just emailed tech support. Thx
