m15 R5, shutting down unexpectedly

Hello guys,

I have had this device for some months now and recently, since I started using it for longer periods of time (while being plugged to AC and with Power Mode set to Primarily AC use) it started to shut down unexpectedly. Twise, after a rather long session of word processing (the machine was not over heating, as the fans were not even working) I got a message saying that the pc will shut down for an unknow reason, while half of the screen became fuzzy and an " " icon appeared, the machine restarted automatically. Then, the 3rd time just 1 min after turing the laptop on, it just froze and got me to a black screen, where eventually I turned it off and back on manually.

My concern  is that this might be related to the machine being plugged in, as even though both CPU and GPU temperatures are low, when the battery is fully charged (alienware powerbutton logo turns blue) the area around the spot where the AC cable connects to the laptop is rly hot (Power Mode in bios is set to Primarily AC use).

That is kind of a bummer, as all of the times my work was lost.

Do you  have any ideas?

Thank you.

Hi @Manolisbouts please run Reliability Monitor How to use Windows Reliability Monitor to identify software issues | Dell US

The ac adapter's power cord connection to laptop should not be excessively hot. Using bright light, please examine power cord plug and laptop's dc-in socket for any signs of physical damage or poor electrical connection.

Frequent saves of work should limit data loss. If using MS Office, turn on auto save, that saves your file automatically, every few seconds, as you work.
