FlashxR,

* A failed BIOS update could break the motherboard. For an out of warranty PC like yours, it is worth the risk? Your call
* BIOS 2.10.0 only addressed the "exaggerated" Intel Security Advisory. It did not add any performance enhancements

Laptop BIOS installation instructions =
* Connect the external power adapter to the Laptop
* The Laptop is not connected to any dock, external monitor, hard drive, printer, etc.
* Download/Save the latest BIOS file to the Windows desktop
* Close/end task all unnecessary software applications (Browsers, Dell SupportAssist, Dell Update Application, Dell Display Manager, Steam, Anti-virus, etc.)
* Find the saved BIOS file on the Windows desktop
* Right click the file and choose, "Run as administrator". Note, you do not need to "extract" the file. Just run it
* Follow the prompted instructions. The Laptop will reboot on its own, do not force it

Hi @FlashxR  there is no good reason to download Alienware_m15_m17_2.10.0.exe and update BIOS.

Never try to install BIOS over the internet. (Do not use SupportAssist)

Having downloaded Alienware_m15_m17_2.10.0.exe, please verify the checksum value, to ensure the integrity of your download. If OS(C:) boot drive messed-up, run Check Disk to find and automatically fix all file errors. Disk Error Checking: How to run CHKDSK in Windows 11/10 (thewindowsclub.com)

So I ended up fixing this by downloading bios and saving it to flash drive. Then restarting pc/laptop pressing f12 loading boot menu and then selecting load boot from usb. I found the intstuctions better explained on another message board here if u dig around some more

hi guys

try this

turn on the laptop / computer immediately press f12 and you should have an option there to update the bios.

Could be worse,I own the original m17,and the cmos died and now I can't even get passed the boot menus because it will no longer detect anything but the ssd which because I can't boot I can't install the operating system to it!
