m17 R1, will somebody help me disable SupportAssist?
My alienware M17 year 2019 got a very annoying problem is that SupportAssist always starts on booting and always warn fail for fan checking. But my fan and everything is working perfectly. Since I have 15.05.2021 upgraded my bios to 2.7.0 which is the latest bios version. I have tried to disable SupportAssist recovery on the BIOS menu but nothing worked. Have tried to check, disable legacy boot, change to legacy boot.. My booting drive is SSD drive. These things are too much annoying. Hope anyone could help me get out of these problems. Especially SupportAssist bios boot!

This page explains how to uninstall Support Assist. I assume that is you goal to remove it and end the annoyance. However I would run diagnostics (F12 immediately on booting) and check for a fan problem. It may appear the fan is good but it may be failing.

Hi @JOcean user removed SupportAssist two years ago using Paragraph 3. Uninstallation, delete from Programs and Features [see Here]. Deletion of this Dell application did not fix this persistent legacy SupportAssist annoyance.

Thanks for that update. I was not aware that this has been ongoing. If all else fails and depending on his frustration level, a clean install may help in which case any trace of Dell software or apps will be gone.

There was a recent Support Assist reporting error (memory error) on some other Alienware models. Just uninstalling Support Assist with the Windows uninstall did not fix the erroneous error notice at boot up. We found two options to fully uninstall Support Assist. (1) Use Revo Uninstaller Pro which uninstalls but also scans registry and allows removing registry items and also scans for left over files and allows deletion. (2) Use the Windows uninstall of Support Assist and then run the registry cleaner in Ccleaner.
There was a new version of Support Assist, released early May 2021 that fixed the erroneous hardware problem. Have you updated Support Assist to the new version 3.9? It may fix your fan problem if its erroneously reporting a Dell fan. It may be a legitimate error as Dell fans are sensed at boot and if the fan sensor is not working, even though the fan works OK it is a 'fan error'.
If its reporting a non-Dell fan that's not a Support Assist error - "welcome to the club".

Hi @fireberd already had this discussion [see Here]. Use of Revo Uninstaller Free advocated.

Have you tried the SA V3.9 released earlier this month?
I still wonder about the fan notice. The fan is not being detected and barring a failure of the extra sensor Dell adds to fans, a cable reseat (unplug then plug back in) may be all that's needed. I'm not a SA advocate (I don't have it on my recording studio laptop) just wondering if the report is true.

Hi @fireberd I'm not a SupportAssist advocate either.
My new 17 R5 out of box is stuck in dark mode. There is no SupportAssist troubleshoot. The AWCC (AlienFX 2.0) does not have troubleshoot. Raised 'Report an Unresolved Problem' last year and Dell Support are just sitting on it. Dell Warranty Expires 08 NOV 2026.

Only solution IMO as well after dealing with this POS for too long now. I should be charging Dell $100/hr for identifying their S/W issues.

My Dell Alienware has been the biggest, over-priced POS that I have owned of my 20+ laptops in my career. Constant upgrades, problems. I've had this exact issue from....surprise, 1 month after my 12 month warranty expired. Dismantle, clean fans and heat sinks, re-apply heat sink contact grease... Fans working properly. but the support assist, Alienware software flat out and never works. $2500 paperweight. Whoever designed this should be instantly terminated and forced to listen to the shrill sounds that my laptop emits on boot every time for all eternity.
