m17 R2, underperforming
Specs - 9th Generation Intel Core i9-9 980HK (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.0Ghz w/Turbo Boost), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 8GB GDDR6 with Max-Q Design
I feel like my PC is definitely underperforming in most games. You would think you would get 120 FPS with quite high settings. But in some cases, even on the lowest settings, it will just reach 60 FPS or maybe 90 FPS if I am lucky depending on the game. I spent $2000 on this pc and don't feel like I am getting what I paid for.

Hi @Hazza welcome to this user to user forum.
The Alienware m17 R3 Gaming Laptop webpage has configurations tab that includes "Select a game to see how many frames per second (FPS) each system can achieve". The m17 R2 webpage does not have this, but the m17 R3 webpage should provide an indication of what your m17 R2 gaming FPS should be.
Does SupportAssist troubleshooting find any problems?

Hi @Hazza Oh? Yes, with this persistent activity, the system will be less responsive. Have a look in Task Manager's Detail tab, click on top of CPU column to get the high values at the top. When no applications are running, System Idle Process should be in the region of 98%.
The AWCC is a very well known problem, as reported in this Alienware forum. If you have invested in a Dell extended warranty you could ask Dell to provide a remedy, but many users are waiting for the next AWCC update. Rolling back the AWCC version to when it worked, should be the fix. Restore computer back to a time that AWCC worked, should be a fix.
Please check that System Restore is already enabled, or enable this Windows feature.
Please try this. When in local admin account, download Revo Uninstaller Free. This is known to completely remove the AWCC + OC Controls software. Having started the removal process, click on create System Restore point, then wait for it to confirm that software has been uninstalled, then select advanced scanning mode and then scan to delete all the background files, it may give you a second window and these files should also be deleted. Restart to save these changes into the Operating System.
Revisit Task Manager's Detail tab, when no applications are running, System Idle Process should be in the region of 98%. If not, let computer idle for 20 minutes, then see what process is still using excessive computer resources.
Now decide if having the AWCC installed is agreeable. Wait a few days before deciding to install AWCC + OC Controls, as if for the first time.
