Is this amount of backlight bleed acceptable?

I'm on my second M17 R3 and the black light bleed is terrible as well. At this point I might just have to return this one as well and not order from Dell any longer.

Have you tried asking for an oled model instead as I’ve heard they’re more reliable in terms of quality for the screen.

I'm not interested in a non gaming display. These displays can't be considered OK with Dell. IMG_0640.jpg

Well then replacing the current one with a brand new 144 or 300hz display will fix the issue.

Replacing it is not fixing the problem. I'm on my second m17 r3 laptop and the panel on the new one is just as bad as the original. This is the 300hz 1080p display option.

Here is the other laptop. Focus on the left side of the screen.

This is my final post on this issue. I've decided to just return this purchase for a full refund. I've wasted over a month dealing with Dell trying to get a laptop that doesn't have screen defects. The website notebookcheck.net just did a review of the m17 R3 and this is what the screen on the review laptop looks like:

While it looks better than the screen on the laptop that was sent to me this is still poor. Here is what they had to say about this:

Quote: "Moderate uneven backlight bleeding along the bottom corners. We expected better from a laptop at this price range"

That is the key point, these Alienware laptops are not cheap. They are premium products so how does a company like Dell not have better quality control on laptops that sell for upwards of $4000? I love everything about the m17 R3 but I'm not going accept a laptop with this much backlight bleed. I'm now going to try my luck with another brand.

Alright then, hopefully I tried to help you right? Good luck with the new laptop.
