m17 R3, touchpad loose, noisy
I have just bought a new Alienware M17 R3, and as soon as I opened it, I noticed the trackpad loose and very noisy. So i called premium support and a technician came to replace it. However, the new trackpad was manufactured so poorly the plastic on the back was mis-aligned to the back of the circuit board so it didnt fit. He then came a few days later with a new one and that too was stiff and didnt click. Having spent so much I am so surprised at the build quality. Is there a limit or will they keep replacing until they get it right?
P.s. I cannot even get a replacement as I took the last i7-10875H chip laptop. Stuck as this is the only thing wrong with it! Help??

Hi @Lion Alienware this sub standard m17 R3 should never have been delivered to you. Dell quality control is poor. If within 30 days of purchase date, reject this m17 R3 as being not fit for purpose and get a full refund. If more than 30 days, you are expected to tolerate this poor build standard. If you want to keep this m17 R3, there will be good quality online replacement parts from earlier m17 revisions or compatible laptop builds.

Thanks @crimsom , but will earlier revisions of the M17 touchpad fit my latest R3? As I am sure this is the first time they have made the laptop in the Lunar Light colour? Even if I get the replacement part privately it is still going to be ordered from Dell direct so may suffer from the same build quality issues? I am still within my 30 days, as I do like the laptop I would have gone for a replacement but as I said they have stopped doing my intel i7 chip so I will loose out as only lower specs are available. If only this one thing could get sorted.

This is ridiculous. You must push for a full return and refund. If all else fails, do a chargeback on your credit card.

I should read this post before I bought one. I got the same problem.
tried to call them, but no responses.
The services were horrible, had to repeat my issues several times but not proper answers.

@dell_bad_quality I do feel your pain, in the end i actually had to get a full refund and go for a different model altogether. There was no way out as after the 2nd attempt of replacing the trackpad they refused to do anymore replacements! Eventhough it was thier fault both replacement trackpads were faulty. I couldn't help but feel they were making it my fault the replacements were not fitting.
It's ridiculous how replacement touchpad parts direct from the factory come faulty. If this is the case, new laptop builds have no chance!
