m17 R4, how to get sensible fan speeds?

I'm confused about the way the AWCC Fusion temperature profiles work. What I'm finding is that there isn't a profile/setting to just let the fans do their own thing, intelligently adjusting based on the current temps.

If I choose the "Full Speed" profile, the fans crank to 100 %, but they always stay at 100 %, even when the CPU is relatively cool. I don't want the fans to remain at 100 % all the time, only when necessary.

If, instead, I choose "Performance", it seems the fans will never go above 72 %, even when the CPU hits 100 degrees. I do notice that the fans will ramp up/down a little when in "Performance" (between 40 % and 72 % or so), which is good. But given that it won't go above 72 %, it's not a mode I usually want to use when doing anything serious.

I know I can manually set the "Smooth Line" of a profile myself, and that's what I've been using. But I feel like it's hard to get the values just right, and my fans kind of bounce around a lot, as though the PID controller managing the whole thing was a bit too sensitive or something. And it's tricky to know the exact correct values here, especially when I can only adjust three points to get the curve.

Anyway, is there an out-of-the-box way to just let the fans be fully automatic? I want them to be able to hit 100 % when the CPU is hot, but not stay at 100 % when the CPU is relatively cool. So, basically, is there a way to get the fans to just be sensible?
