m17 R5, arrived with post-dated bios of two release, network bug
The hardware work great and is powerful but the software is a true that always prevent you that is not really your computer.
Arrived with a post-dated bios and a Bluetooth/WiFi bug with some devices. Stucked in the VM of a user space spelled "admin" and owner of the computer. It's impossible to simply remove a bad driver and the unwanted Bluetooth network area to fix a bug. Same thing for progs installed by user and installed in the real admin space. Some bug not resolved by the dell recovery and windows recovery always used with the same key. The USB 3.0 practically just work in 2.0.
Very disappointed. Don't forget your 30 days money back.

Hi @CyberYan welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.
Check invoice or click on Product Support to determine if this Alienware m17 R5 AMD is new or Dell refurbished with first year basic Dell warranty? From your opening post, it seems that this laptop has been pre-owned and does not have the as fabricated at factory pedigree. Dell Refund policy, New vs Refurbished - Dell Community. Please note the reduced time to Reject refurbished system is within first 21 days.

Did you order a brand new laptop or a refurbished one from the Outlet store? If you purchased a system from the Outlet store then having an admin account is perfectly normal as they test all these systems before sending them out.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with running on an older BIOS, There is usually no reason to update the BIOS unless it needs to be done to resolve an issue with the system. Updating the BIOS just because a new version is released is not a good idea.
Uninstalling drivers is usually very easy so I don't know what your problem could be there. Just uninstall the driver and go to the Dell Support page and reinstall the most recent one for your system.

Not a refurbished and apparently bad tested by the "tech and her donuts". The laptop work bad from the day one to tomorrow, arrived with a bluethoot/wifi bug and after few day the alienware command center comming out of control. The screen fall sometime into a bluethoot device and the fan spin at each 5 minutes in sleep and hibernation. The multiple ways to recover a fresh install do nothing or more just delete game and music and reset only the sandbox.
The firmware update is important when they are issu ... this is why there are update and for some security reasons.
A true scrap laptop/os

I'm not very happy having to make a shell battle. Why the dell usb key tool just don't send and reinstall the same os sended with the laptop and all her original settings from the cloud?
