M18x R1, BIOS update A05 issue
Hello again I’m having issues updating my bios (a05) for my 880m graphics card. I have tried the admin and forfeit route and it still runs the .exe file which prompts me to charge the battery to 10%. I have tried the freedos route but I can’t find the .bio file. The cost of a new battery is 100$ and won’t be here for over a week. I understand the risks in updating the bios but I can’t use the graphics card without it. What can I do to bypass the prompt for the 10% battery issue?

Hi @RougePengu when on ac adapter, try update install BIOS forcefully without Battery / damaged battery or battery below 10% in Dell Laptop [YouTube Comments Here]. Laptop without battery is designed to function as Desktop on ac adapter power.
Dell Support for Alienware M18x Drivers & Downloads. Windows 10 is not supported on this product.

They do this to protect the laptop in case of a power failure but sometimes you have no choice. I haven't watched the full video below so you may have already tried it. You do all of this at your own risk though.

Hi @RougePengu did you disconnect the battery so it functions as a Desktop, then update BIOS?

I tried and it says the .exe file can’t be run in dos mode.

I did, but after going and reviewing the bios it said it was updated?!? I’m confused because none of them made it that far in the process. I’m not going to look a gift negatively, but has anyone heard this happening to anyone else?
