Macro keys not accepting volume controls

I received my new Alienware 17 r5 yesterday.  My previous Alienware, I was able to assign the volume controls to the macro keys.  However, nothing assigns right with this different control center.  I have tried following the instructions, but they do not work.  I use the volume controls a lot in games as needed.  Thanks for any suggestions on fixing this.
